World Kidney Day aims to increase awareness of the importance of the kidney organ to humans, and highlight awareness of preventive behaviors, risk factors, and awareness of how to live with kidney disease for those affected.

- Encouraging preventive behavior.
- Raising awareness about the importance of the kidneys, and raising awareness about the link between diabetes, high blood pressure and chronic kidney diseases.
- Highlighting the fact that transplantation is the best treatment for kidney failure, and organ donation is one of the best life-saving initiatives.
